Villajoyosa Town Council has launched the Smart Office service with the aim of boosting the municipality’s transformation into a Smart Tourist Destination. This Smart Office is dedicated to gathering information from various municipal departments in order to implement the Smart Tourism Destination (ITD) model in a cross-cutting manner over the next two years.
The Smart Office is managed by a multidisciplinary team with experience in the fields of tourism, technology and communication, who will work in coordination with the different areas of the Villajoyosa Town Council and the local tourism sector.
The aim of this initiative is to improve the management of tourism in the town, promoting sustainable development and adapting it to new technologies. In this sense, the Councillor for Tourism, Rosa Llorca, explains that “Villajoyosa needs to take off and be at the forefront in the field of tourism and for this we are establishing a cross-cutting strategy that coordinates and organizes all the areas involved in which we apply new technologies to collect data and act according to the information we get from them”.
This service, which is part of a global strategy of the Villajoyosa Town Council to position the municipality at the forefront of the tourism sector, allows the optimisation of tourism management and research into the factors that influence the sector and its impact on the destination. It is responsible for several key areas including data management, governance, training and communication, “which will ensure the implementation of a comprehensive and transformative strategy for the municipality,” says Llorca.
The Smart Office is part of the Tourism Sustainability Plan for Destinations (PSTD) and is financed with Next-Generation EU funds.
